We had a great turn-out at our August meeting, and here are the beautiful items our members brought for Show & Tell:

prep meeting.

And she also stitched this cool snowman.

Janet C stitched this clever design for an Altoid tin.

Karen J stitched (and finished!) this groovy cardinal

and the darling needlepunch chicken with chicks.

Marge G stitched this interesting color theory piece

using only three colors of floss.

Fun at the Fair - Edited

Early August means it's time once again for the Lake County Fair.  Five of our members participated this year, and had a great time cheering each other on during Exhibitor's Night, despite the fact that the temperature in the building was 100 degrees!  Here are their exhibits from the Fair.  Apologies for the blurriness of some of the photos.  The display cases are dark!

July Show & Tell

We had a whole lot of eye candy at our July General meeting, 

so let's get right to it!

Becky M stitched this fantastic retro Yellow Submarine,

inspired by the Beatles' song.

Carol L went on a name tag and beaded fob frenzy.

Well done!

The prolific Chris R stitched all of the cuteness

in the above two photos.

Karen J rejoined the Chapter and brought these lovelies with her.

She is also starting a small needlework finishing business.

Marge G brought this study in color.

The same three colors were used in each of the quadrants,

with dramatically different results.  Fascinating.

Pat B stitched this canvaswork ornament,

beautifully finished by Karen J.

Last but not least, Sue P stitched this gorgeous hummingbird,

and brought a needlepoint calendar

to inspire the meeting's attendees.

June Show & Tell

From cats and bats, quilts and patriotic, to tins and blessings, our members had a wide variety of finished projects to show this month...

 

Barb P stitched and finished this cute personalized tin.

 

Becky M, one of our needlepointers,

switched it up with an adorable cross stitch picture.

 

Pat B was in a patriotic mood and

stitched this picture, pin cushion and pillow.

 

Renee went to pieces this month.

She pieced together these two beautiful quilt tops.

Sue P stitched this clever Hallowe'en ornie.

Sue also stitched this sophisticated, blingy cat.

showed this impressive cat cross stitch piece.

April Show and Tell

What the April Show & Tell lacked in quantity, it made up for in quality.  Here are the  items stitched by our members.

More Color

This isn't specifically about color in embroidery, but it is about how color affects your life. As you begin to pay more attention to color, you'll notice the colors around you and sometimes see their effects.

Color Theory Workshop

On Saturday, April 18, 2015, the Chapter hosted a color theory workshop at House of Stitches in LaPorte, Indiana.

Marj led the group in an EGA Petite Project called Colorplay,

designed by Erica M. Cannon.

The class project involved identifying colors in overdyed threads,

and then choosing a color family that was 'missing' 

from the overdyed fibers along with two adjacent color families.

Members worked on a small project to see how colors change

when grouped with other colors, or stitched on different backgrounds.

This is Marj, Linda (owner of House of Stitches) and

Renee, NANI President.

And here are the participants, from left to right:

Amy, Becky, Claudia, Diana, Renee, Marj, Carol and Marge.

Everyone had a great time and learned a lot about color.

There may also have been some stash enhancement going on,

but that is just a rumor!
