April 1st is International Tatting Day

According to Wikipedia, you can use tatting needles, tatting shuttles, or a hook (cro-tatting) for tatted projects.

Motifs from Beeton's Book of Needlework look like this:

The newer books are filled with patterns using overdye fibers -- solid fibers, colorful, bright fibers and some patterns add BEADS.

Enjoy International Tatting Day + maybe there is a
lace making project in YOUR future!

Winter Stitching ....

Work in progress, stitching by NANI member, Deb L

DebBee's Designs
"Glitz and Glamour Sapphire"

Deb shares about this canvas piece:
I changed colors on everthing in this piece.
Now wish I had picked a lighter color canvas
because I have Jessica Crescent Stitches to add
and am having a hard time seeing the
placement of the stitches.

I may have to wait until the sun is shining
and take it outside to finish.

Ott light, Up light or white towel
under the piece are not helping.

If anyone has suggestions about how
to get light underneath
so that I can see to stitch
would be greatly appreciated!

Biscornu

May Class + September Class
Autumn Biscornu Stackers

In this class we will be making three
small biscornu’s in a fall pattern.

This is a Jeannette Douglas pattern.
The motifs for these are acrons, squirrels & fall flowers.
In the May (1st) class we will be working on x-stitching the motifs.

A few months later (September class)
we will be putting our biscourns together,
stacking them & tie them up with a ribbon.
Then you will have a nice decoration just in time for fall.

The kit will include: your pattern, fabric, buttons,
beads + overdyed threads.

You will need to supply the DMC threads for the class.
For those signing up, I will give out the DMC colors you will be needing,
at the April meeting.

Price: $22.00
Deadline for sign up: April meeting

Oh, so fun to read about our chapter
outreach programs in the GLR news!

I noticed they are still looking

for a volunteer to take care of the fundraising items:

"GLR Fundraising
Please consider volunteering!!

On the heels of that announcement I must remind you...we have boxes of tote bags in my house with money tied up in them not earning any return. In able to utilize these wonderful bags, they need to be available to the membership. We must have a chairman to handle fundraising. These bags are truly wonderful. I am using two of them and cannot stress enough how wonderful they are. So...one more time I am pleading...we desperately need someone for this position. "

I have one of their bags + it is terrific!
Nice size, great zipper top, keep all my
travel gear inside without spilling in the car ; )

Contact: Corinne C, Region Director,
if you are interested in purchasing
a tote bag --- or being a volunteer
to take over this fundraiser

Jamee's Mary Wigham

Mary Wigham Sampler
WIP - stitching by Jamee J

Jamee shares: my Mary Wigham sampler in progress ....

I'm stitching it on 32 ct. linen over one.

I'm using DMC floss in many colors, hopefully only once on the sampler.

This will be my ode to DMC by the time I finish it!

They have so many beautiful colors, I couldn't choose just one!
