LOVING KOI © Original Design by KAREN L. PLATER

If you've already begun a JE project and it's languishing, Karen Plater will be holding a traditional four-day class, May 17-20, while she's in Chicago. Contact her and let her know where you are with your project and what you'd like to accomplish in the class and she'll help you get going again. Or if you'd seriously like to begin Japanese Embroidery with a traditional four-day class on a larger piece, Marjorie Holme or Ruth Bloom can provide more information on that option.

About the Loving Koi introductory class: In Japan , the symbolism of the Koi fish represents perseverance in adversity, determination, and strength of purpose. It is usually considered a symbol of masculine strength, though it can be applied to women as well.

Try your hand at a variety of traditional Japanese Embroidery techniques in silks and metal threads while creating this playful and symbolic design.
