Treasures, Part Two

SueD shares (part two) ...
This beautiful embroidered flower,
is one of many on
this vintage blue linen.

The surface stitches are spectacular!!!

This piece sports TWO different techniques for
finishing.   Two sides have the linen rolled, and hemstitched --
one side is rolled, with a 4-sided stitch.

And look!  The original pattern!

Treasures, Part One

Sue D was given personal momentos when
her Aunt Roberta passed away.

This envelope was among
embroidered linens, hemstitched cloths,
and a box of fibers.

This envelope
(notice the 1 cent stamp?)
contained this Child's Prayer
pattern:

And, yes ... the linen was
a very colorful purple-berry color!
The linen threads were drawn out, linen rolled,
and beautiful hemstitching around the entire cloth.

Dorset Buttons - Embroidered Buttons

Thought I'd share information and tutorial links for embroidered buttons.
- these buttons are popping up
around blog land, and on some
Crazy Quilt  projects.

They are called Dorset Buttons.

If you were interested in making your own,
with knowledge of the Spider Web Stitch, and
button hole stitch -- you can follow the
steps shown in this tutorial, or

Once you understand the basics,
take a look at the buttons
on the British Button Society web site.

Many possibilities!
