Tomorrow, February 8, is the day to pay homage to your needles and gently put your worn and broken pins and needles to rest. I've noticed it's becoming a tradition here to make a needlebook or pincushion to celebrate the event. (a lot less messy than the traditional tofu)
You will find a sweet homage to the needle here. And information on the traditional festival in Japan here.
Thanks to Susan at Threaded Needle for the links. She's having a contest for one of her kits--just post a photo of your favorite resting place for your needles on the Sashiko Stitchers Facebook page (your needlework does not have to be sashiko).
